Upgrade Offers Area Faster Internet Speeds, Supporting Multiple-Device Connections

GRANTS PASS, Ore., July 5, 2016 – Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: FTR) has completed a major bandwidth upgrade in its Southern Coastal Oregon market to provide faster internet speeds and more reliable service for both commercial and residential customers in Murphy and Provolt, and surrounding areas.  The project is part of Frontier’s ongoing commitment to expand and improve broadband service to the communities it serves.

Households and businesses in these rural areas can now realize High-Speed Internet download speeds up to 17Mbps – significant enhancements over previously available maximum connections. Frontier invested in switching hardware and upgraded circuitry to improve both network performance and reliability.

“We have upgraded our network to deliver faster speeds and more resiliency,” explained Kelley Carson, General Manager for Frontier.  “This upgrade provides the internet bandwidth required to support multiple devices for multiple users. It’s what our customers need.”

Frontier’s work to deploy broadband service in less-populated areas such as Murphy and Provolt is supported in part by the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Connect America Fund (CAF), which was established to support broadband-capable networks in high-cost areas. CAF has helped Frontier bring new or upgraded high-speed Internet access to unserved or underserved households and businesses across rural America since the program started in 2014. Frontier will continue to utilize this program to extend high-speed Internet access network across rural Oregon.

Stop by the Frontier Communications retail store located at 276 La Clair in Coos Bay, or call 541-269-2020 for further information or to order services. Monthly rates start at just $19.99/month for broadband speeds up to 6Mbps for up to three years with no contract when bundled with qualifying phone service.
