Network Provides Multi-Path Routes and Improves Reliability

COOS BAY, Ore., August 16, 2016 – Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: FTR) announced the completion of a fiber upgrade in its southern coastal Oregon market to provide multi-path routes for both commercial and residential customers in Coos Bay and surrounding areas.  Frontier invested more than $550,000 into this multi-year project to bring path diversity to its network, providing an alternate back up in the event of an emergency.

Over 260 miles of fiber was utilized to create a state of the art, fault-tolerant ring from Coos Bay to Eugene. The switching equipment placed enables Frontier to provide alternate back up and automated restoral of services in the event of an emergency. It also enables high speed transport options for both retail and wholesale services. This data diversity helps provide public safety, commerce and economic development.

“We have upgraded our network and added increased protection to ensure more resiliency and reliability,” explained Kelley Carson, General Manager for Frontier.  “If long distance phone traffic is disrupted due to unforeseen impacts or weather, it will be automatically rerouted to the additional pathway, helping to prevent any major interruption. This is particularly critical for our residential and business customers who rely on landlines.”

The company worked together with Level 3 Communications and CenturyLink to complete the solution.
