Every July, Americans of all ages come together to celebrate the birthday of the United States — the 4th of July. Whether celebrating with a cookout, time off from work, a day at the beach or an impressive fireworks display, every year we pause to celebrate our country’s founding. But on a deeper level, we remember the 4th of July for its military and historic significance that has left a great impact on our country’s heritage and history.
A federal holiday in the U.S. since 1870, the 4th of July represents the birth of American independence. It was on this day in 1776 when delegates of the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, a statement that announced that the 13 American colonies regarded themselves as 13 newly independent sovereign states.
The entire Frontier team is committed to recognizing and celebrating our nation’s independence. And as a company, we support the men and women of the US military teams who continue to make this independence possible. We are dedicated to actively recruiting and hiring military veterans and active reservists. Why are we so dedicated to providing employment to those who have served and continue to serve our country? Because we believe veterans make incredible employees.
We’re proud to say that 13 percent of our entire workforce is comprised of veterans and active reservists. Time and again our veteran workforce demonstrates the key values and core attributes that the military fosters in those who serve. This includes respect, natural leadership qualities, the ability to learn and adapt quickly, and an unrelenting determination to get the job done.
There are, of course, many other attributes that military veterans possess that would benefit any organization or business, regardless of industry. These are the qualities Frontier seeks in all prospective employees, which is why we’re proactively involved with the hiring and employment of veterans and reservists through the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a coalition of American businesses with the shared goal of hiring 100,000 transitioning service members and military veterans by 2020. In addition, we are proud to be a member of The Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces, having partnered with organizations focused on recruiting, hiring, training, assimilating and retaining veterans. The company participates in Joining Forces, The Military Spouse Employer Partnership, Honor and Remember, Patriot Guard Riders, Homes for Heroes, Operation Write Home and The WorkPlace.
This 4th of July is reason to celebrate our nation’s independence, as well as those who have defended — and continue to protect — our country and our freedom. Happy Independence Day!
