At Frontier, we are proud to actively cultivate and encourage female leadership across the company, from technicians in the field to executives in the boardroom. Our commitment is to empowering women — a strong foundation that was laid by Frontier Chairman and past CEO Maggie Wilderotter.
Gender diversity just makes business sense. According to Wilderotter: “Diversity brings out the best in decision-making. Men and women bring different things to the table that can really increase competitive advantage. Women speak up about issues they care about. For example, we launched our Frontier Secure cyber-security services because feeling safe online is something our female board members and leadership felt strongly about.”
With nearly 5,920 women working for Frontier Communications from coast to coast, and more than 570 in positions of management, it’s clear that fostering female leaders is a priority for Frontier.
Melinda White, Area President, West Region
With a career spanning more than 30 years in the telecommunications industry, Melinda White got her start selling cable television subscriptions door-to-door in the early 1980s. Over the course of her career, Melinda worked her way up through the telecommunications industry, eventually transitioning from sales to management within the organizations where she worked. In 2005, Melinda joined Frontier Communications at the request and invitation of then President and CEO Maggie Wilderotter. Today, in her role as Area President, she is responsible for all markets and all aspects of the customer experience in California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Interestingly, Melinda’s predecessor in this role was also a woman, underscoring Frontier’s longstanding commitment to cultivating female talent and leadership.
After working at Frontier for nearly 11 years, Melinda points to the company’s laser-focus on the local communities we serve as one of Frontier’s most defining qualities as a company.
Tressa Bader, Vice President and General Manager for California
With more than 25 years in telecommunications, Tressa Bader knows the key to success in this industry is putting the customer first. “The most rewarding part of my job is when problems are solved for our customers. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority,” Tressa said in a recent interview with Ardent for Life magazine.
Since joining our team in 2007, Tressa — a California native — has quickly made her mark on our regional leadership team, now serving as the Vice President and General Manager for California. In this role, Bader is responsible for ensuring the delivery of customer-focused communications services and leading a workforce of more than 125 employees.
In addition to White and Bader, we are proud to include Kelley Carson, General Manager of the Coos Bay area market in Oregon, Jeanne Danielson, General Manager of the Beaverton area market in Oregon, and Denise Sperle, General Manager of the Mount Vernon area market in Washington, on our team. Our General Managers across the country manage their markets with a leading local engagement philosophy, becoming fully ingrained with the local communities they serve.
Giving women opportunities to take on new challenges and utilize all resources available to them is central in our approach to cultivating a diverse workforce. We’re proud of all leaders at Frontier who have created their own career paths and excelled, and we’re thrilled to have the women of our West Region leadership team helping to steer our course.
