Honor and Remember Our Military Heroes

Monday, May 26 marks the 146th annual recognition of Memorial Day, and all of us here at Frontier Communications would like to pause and take a moment to honor and remember the men and women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

This May, Frontier teamed up with the not-for-profit organization Honor and Remember to recognize military personnel who have lost their lives defending our country. The mission of this organization is to create, establish and promote a nationally recognized flag that would fly continuously as a visible reminder to all Americans of the lives lost in defense of our national freedoms. Throughout the month, we turned to social media to share stories of our support for Honor and Remember and honor those who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Through our partnership with Honor and Remember, we were privileged to be able to present a personalized “Honor and Remember” flag to the family of U.S. Army Captain Andrew Pedersen-Keel, who died in action on March 11, 2014 in Jalrez District, Afghanistan. Captain Pedersen-Keel, 28, was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group out of Fort Bragg, N.C. The flag – personalized with Captain Pedersen-Keel’s name and date of death – was presented to Captain Pedersen-Keel’s mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keiser, during a ceremony on May 3, 2014 in Somers, Conn.  Featuring a gold star, eternal flame and folded flag over a red background, the Honor and Remember Flag is part of a national campaign of remembrance symbolizing gratitude and respect for those who make the ultimate sacrifice in military service.

Recognizing our military heroes is of the utmost importance on Memorial Day – and every day – at Frontier. Our support of the Honor and Remember Flag program is an integral part of our national commitment to recognize the contributions of U.S. military veterans. In fact, our 100 percent U.S.-based workforce includes many U.S.-based veterans and reservists, comprising 11 percent of total employees.

On behalf of the entire Frontier team, thank you to our heroes – today we honor and remember you.
